Pirate’s Mothership Captured By The French
Rescue mission’s to save hostages continue to succeed, with the latest breakthrough being the attack and capture of the pirate mothership on which a crew of eleven pirates were aboard. The 30-ft long vessel was stationed 550 miles off the east coast of Kenyan port Mombasa before being attacked by the French. After an thorough reconnaissance of the vessel overnight, the French marine commandos performed a high speed assault on the vessel and captured the whole crew and the ship.
The French commandos belonged to the Nivose, a French destroyer aboard which the captured pirates are being held. Though no hostages were rescued this capture will greatly reduce the hijacking of ships. Previously inspite of the Sunday attacks by the U.S Navy, the pirates were able to mobilize enough men to seize four ships and 75 hostages. The U.N has assured the safety of passage through Gulf of Aden, and has promised that it will become a safe and prosperous sea route once again.
